Get Ready to Play Scrabble

Scrabble is a type of word and board game that is very enjoyable to play. This game is very popular in any places and has been played by people for more than half a century. Both children and adults find interests in playing scrabble and this is often played at home, school and outdoors with families, friends, and other groups with common interests. Scrabble has been the best tool in teaching children the vocabulary and enhancing adult’s language skills. Here are the basics in playing scrabble:

  • Prepare the game board on a flat surface. Each player should get 7 letter tiles from the box of tiles or “kitty”. To decide who will make the first move, toss a coin or you can make use of other methods.
  • Create one word out of the 7 letter tiles. The existing words on the game board will be your basis.
  • After creating a word, arrange it on the game board and add up the points of the letter tiles thrown. The used tiles can be replaced by grabbing the same number of tiles from the kitty.
  • Unused letter tiles can also be replaced from the kitty before passing the turn to the next player.
  • The game is over when there is no more letter tiles to use to create words. This is now the time to sum up the points to determine the winner.
